Smarketing LLC began in 2004 as a marketing, design, and production company run by Ellen Reid to work with authors and produce independent books via self-publishing. Along the way Smarketing LLC created three book award contests that celebrate and aid independent and small publishers which were consolidated in 2017. The National Indie Excellence Book® Awards, now in its 21st year, continues to nurture authors and publishers.
The National Indie Excellence® Awards
The National Indie Excellence® Awards (NIEA) are open to all English language printed books available for sale, including small presses, mid-size independent publishers, university presses, and self-published authors. Over the past two decades NIEA is proud to champion and celebrate self-publishing and small independent presses going the extra mile to produce books of excellence in every aspect.

Independent authors and publishers put a great deal of care into creating quality books for a global audience. At NIEA we understand and respect the hard work and dedication that goes into these efforts, and we know the next step is marketing your title.
